Keeping Aotearoa New Zealand moving, with MSD

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) to support people to help keep New Zealand moving. Due to the outbreak, there are lots of businesses that urgently need staff to fill vacancies of critical workers.

Attitude has started working with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) to support people to help keep New Zealand moving during the wide spread Omicron outbreak. What this means is you’ll start to see a few more pieces of content about this going through our social media channels.

Due to the outbreak, there are lots of businesses that urgently need staff to fill vacancies of critical workers. One of these businesses include Countdown (you may have noticed on your regular shopping visits that there are a few empty shelves). These jobs are across New Zealand and often require manual work such as stacking shelves and completing online shopping orders.

We know that all of these jobs may not be suitable for all disabled people, however we are committed to ensuring people are aware of available opportunities. In saying that you also don’t have to be disabled to be applying for these roles.

This is a tough time for New Zealand and we look forward to working with the community and Ministry of Social Development to help us get through.

If you are interested or would like more information - please contact Loren at info@attitudelive.com or 021 0503632 as soon as possible.

I’ll have a chat with you about what is involved to get the ball rolling. It would be great if you had a photo of some sort of photo ID such as a Kiwi Access Card, Drivers Licence or Passport that you could send to me straight away too.

Some questions you might have.

What impact will this have on my benefit?

You will just need to declare your income through MyMSD as normal.

Will ‘on the job’ training be provided?

People will get an induction and get taught the specific skills they need for their role. The roles are entry level so the key skill is being able to follow instructions. It is expected that as people settle in they will be given additional tasks.

How long will the process take from referral from Attitude to MSD to hearing back?

The process is that we’ll review applications and get them across to Countdown’s recruitment partners on the day they land with us. The recruitment partners are aiming to be in contact within 24 - 48 hours.

Do all jobs need a current drivers licence?

No, just reliable transport to and from work.

How flexible are the hours?

Very – for Countdown’s roles, the minimum commitment is 4 hours a week and they are looking for people at all times of the day.

Are there roles that are not labour intensive?

Possibly, once Attitude gets the information from you we can have a chat with MSD to see what other roles are needed to be filled.

Do I need to be vaccinated?

Yes, you will need to be able to present your vaccine pass to Countdown to show you have been fully vaccinated.
