Anna Steven is a member on the Halberg Youth Council and writes about how sport has made a positive difference in her life.

My highlights from the Halberg Junior Disability Games included, watching everyone enjoy themselves while participating in the different activities over the weekend, seeing how far the members of Team Auckland had improved since they first started training for the Games and winning the Joyce Fisher Cup for 'Spirit of the Games – Female

My future goals for sport are to represent New Zealand at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

I first got involved in sport in Year 1 at primary school, playing netball and I first became involved with the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation after being selected to be on the 2017 Halberg Youth Council.

Sport has made so many positive differences in my life, from teaching me important skills such as communication, determination and focus, to creating some amazing friendships and also providing me with some amazing opportunities like being able to represent New Zealand on the world stage!

My future goals for sport are to represent New Zealand at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, to medal at the Paralympics and to break a world record in my classification.
